Egg donation

Egg donation is recommended for female infertility:

• when the ovaries do not produce their own eggs, or the received eggs are of poor quality;
• with premature menopause;
• genetic diseases;
• after several failed IVF attempts with poor quality embryos, or if the woman is over 40 years of age.

In such cases, the patient is transferred the embryos obtained as a result of the fertilization of donor eggs with the husband's sperm. This program belongs to the category of the most effective artificial insemination programs.

Who can be an egg donor?

The egg donor can be anonymous donors or anonymous patients included in the standard IVF program who have a "surplus" of eggs after superovulation and who voluntarily consent to their use by other patients.

The main requirements for egg donors are - the age of up to 35 years, excellent physical and mental health, the absence of genetic diseases and bad habits, as well as the birth of at least one healthy child.

The egg donation program consists of the following steps:

• donor  selection;
• synchronization of the menstrual cycles of the donor and the recipient (patient);
• stimulation of the egg donor;
• puncture of the donor's ovaries and egg collection;
• fertilization of eggs with husband's or donor's sperm;
• cultivation of embryos;
• transfer of embryos into the uterine cavity of the recipient;
• support of the luteal phase of the recipient.

The program can also use vitrified own or donor eggs.
